bring a sprig of spring inside...

with all of the flowers starting to bloom outside why not cut a few to enjoy inside. as i've said before, you don't need a lot of flowers to make an impact. and while everyone is looking for ways to save, reuse and recycle i thought this post over at design*sponge was quite appropriate. it's a classic idea and gives you illustrated instructions on how to make it happen. enjoy!

a walk in the park...

spring in central park??? it doesn't get much better than that, except of course if you get there on one of the first sunny spring days! i spent the day there yesterday and took a little trip to the zoo with my friend and her daughter...the trees are in full bloom and everything looks so beautiful. take a walk, run or ride and enjoy these long awaited spring days!

magnolia trees are sooo beautiful...and around for such a short time before the flower petals drop off.
the cherry blossoms aren't quite bloomed yet but i have some pictures from last spring...always a favorite of brides...but remember there is only a short window of time that flowering branches are available...so if you love them and know that you want them for your wedding...think SPRING!

while you're busy looking up at the beautiful trees don't forget to look down at some of the beautiful ground cover throughout the parks gardens

the vibrant colors of this peacock were too amazing to resist...unfortunately it didn't shake it's tail feathers so that i could get a picture but it's still soo beautiful.

happy weekend!

phyto universe window design

phyto universe is an ultra chic, unique space offering amazing hair treatments. located on 58th street & lexington avenue, the entrance is street level and the spa is located upstairs. the space is an oasis located in the midst of the bustling city...you feel immediately relaxed as soon as you walk into the space. there is a vertical garden wall which is amazing!
i've designed a few seasonal windows in the past for them but most recently created a spring window filled with vibrant butterflies and rich green grass.

Wedding Bouquets

you're set with all that you will be wearing head to toe...but there is still one accessory missing...your bouquet!! whenever i work with a couple the personal flowers are often the last thing we design. for me it's the most fun. it's as important as any other accessory you will wear that day and should be a reflection of your personality. i love using unexpected accents or personal trinkets to decorate the bouquets. as with every detail of your wedding, it should be an expression of you! the way a bouquet is wrapped is one way to show your personality along with the flowers you choose. and think about, the bouquet will be in tons of the pictures so you want to love it!!

ceramic bag & bottles

there's not much too say about these vases except i love them!! i picked them up (on sale) from urban outfitters...not a likely place to find vases but they are known to have some "quirky" home accessories..how about the ceramic gun vase they had last year?? they don't carry it anymore but you could find that here. this version of the ceramic paper bag and soda bottle are a little less offensive for some but whatever your style these will add some playfulness to your decor. i happened to have these leaves at home already but anything would work...so have a little fun!

brides.com

brides.com hosted a fabulous event last night...and this time it wasn't just for couples, it was a networking social for wedding industry professionals. held at the breathtaking bartos hall in the new york public library it was a really great evening. it's so nice to see people you work with all the time creating amazing events, planners, banquet managers, lighting designers, photographers along with many others. i saw people i hadn't seen in years and made connections with new people i hope to work with in the future. the food was delicious provided by sterling affair and wine was flowing courtesy of mirassou. a lovely evening...thanks brides.com!!

here are some images of bartos hall but be sure to check out the nypl site for more images of all the rental spaces available.

flower of the week...poppies

i LOVE poppies!! they can sometimes be tricky to work with because when using them as cut flowers you need to sear the bottom of the stem over an open flame and place in warm water otherwise the flowers may not open or they could drop all of their petals. but once the poppies have opened they are breathtaking...the petals are like ruffled silk and are so delicate. you'll typically see the poppies in bright hues of orange and yellows as well as softer yellow and cream tones. this is one of my favorite shots of an orange poppy...

here they are used in an arrangement for a corporate event at the
time warner center

musuem of the city of new york

if you haven't been to the musuem of the city of new york you need to go! there are some amazing exhibits and they change all the time. i had the pleasure of creating the decor for a private event on friday night. the space is beautiful and has the capacity for a cocktail reception for up to 500pp and a seated dinner for 250pp. to make it even better, the fabulous ladies over at the wedding library have teamed up with the museum and will be the exclusive booking agent and event planners for weddings. i will be sure to post some pics from the event once i have them. here is a sneak peek at one of the arrangements...
